Summer sports
at the lake include many water sports. Some to mention are water
skiing, boating, para-sailing (it is legal to land a plane on the
lake), many fishing tournaments, over a 1000 miles of horse trails,
hiking trails and more. Lake Don Pedro is known for its enticing
waters in the summer.
Winter sports are also a part of life here. The lake is below the
snow line, but it is only an hour from the surrounding ski resorts
and snow parks. Nearby ski resorts include Dodge Ridge, Bear Valley
and Badger Pass. Lake Don Pedro is on Hwy. 132 one of the roads
used by bay area travelers to Yosemite.
In addition to summer and water recreational sports, Lake Don Pedro
is centrally located to so many other activities. You can go rappelling
in caverns at Murphys, stop to see 1897 Railtown in Jamestown, go
the rodeo in Oakdale or go for a quiet bike ride. A scenic drive
to nearby Calaveras County brings you to the small town of Murphys.
Here there are many vineyards to visit. Each vineyard has a tasting
room and other amenities that are individual to the particular vineyard.
The lake area has many activities to visit and they are all within
forty-five minutes of Lake Don Pedro. Included is "4' other
lakes available to visit and golf courses.
Another important feature to realize for the homeowner, existing
at Lake Don Pedro is grades "Kindergarten to Twelfth".
Bussing for school children exists for the Don Pedro schools, Sonora
private schools, public schools and religious schools. The schools
outside of Don Pedro are about 30 minutes away by bus. This spring
"The University of California" will be breaking ground;
this is about 35 minutes away from Don Pedro. Don Pedro can be just
the place to live!
One feature that we plan to promote is the option of homeowners
having a small vineyard planted on their lot. Have a wine company
maintain the grapes, harvest them and split the profits with the
homeowner. How would you like to drive home through your own vineyard
and enjoy your own wine? We believe this will be an appealing feature
to many potential home buyers and vacation home owners.
For your enjoyment please take a moment to look through

We have shown
you the activities near to Lake Don Pedro, now we would like to
share with you the activities at the lake.
Lake Don Pedro is known for its incredible Bass fishing. You can
also fish for Trout, Salmon, and Catfish just to name a few. House
boating is also very popular on the lake. Reservations are necessary
as there is such a demand for the houseboats. Since the lake is
so large it has been chosen to not be effected by the possibility
of motor craft restrictions and also does not have speed restrictions.
This allows for speed boating, water skiing, boogie boarding, and
jet skiing. If you prefer to slow down there is also sailing on
the lake. Soon we hope to add parasailing to the many water sports
at the lake. |

During the warmer
months you can also enjoy water sports on near by rivers. In Knights
Ferry you can take a guided rafting or canoe trip down the Stanislaus
River. If you choose to go rafting you will get to go through the
Goddwin Canyon and ride some wild rapids!
If you would rather stay dry you can go golfing at Lake Don Pedro
Golf Course in La Grange which is minutes away. Although, you will
not be traveling there for very long since we are putting in a first
rate Robert Trent Jones designed destination golf resort. |

There is a strong
horse community around Lake Don Pedro. There are many equestrian
trails that work there way around the lake. There are different
levels of riding terrain that can suit a novice rider to an expert
rider. There are riding groups that can be joined that organize
day trips and other riding events.
No more that forty-five minutes away is the beautiful Yosemite National
Park. There are air tours that take you on a personal "birds
eye view" tour of the park. You can also enjoy biking, skiing,
hiking, picnics and other outdoor activities. The best part is the
gorgeous view of Yosemite from Lake Don Pedro. |

A scenic forty-five
minute drive to Calaveras County brings you to the small town of
Murphys. Here there are many vineyards to visit in the valleys of
the Sierra Foothills. Each vineyard has a tasting room and other
amenities that are individual to the particular vineyard.
We are happy to say that we have done some research of our own as
to the production of wine grapes. Gallo has paid the lake a visit
and is interested in the purchase of land for a vineyard of their
own. Also, at your request, as a home owner, we can have grapes
planted on your lot and have a wine company maintain the grapes,
harvest them, and split the profits with the home owner. How would
you like to drive home through your own vineyard? |

Winter sports
are also a part of life here. The lake is below the snow line, but
it is only an hour to the surrounding ski resorts and snow parks.
Some of the ski resorts near are Dodge Ridge, Bear Valley, and Pine
Crest. Even Yosemite has skiing making it a year round recreational
park. Since the slopes are only one hour away, you can easily go
for the day. |

The great part
about Lake Don Pedro is that it is centrally located to so many
different activities. You can go rappelling in caverns at Murphys
or rock climbing in Yosemite. If you would rather keep your feet
on the ground you can still go to the caverns at Murphys, stop to
see the 1897 Railtown in Jamestown, go to a rodeo in Oakdale, or
go for a quite bike ride. The area has many activities for the recreational
person. You will not run out of things to do here and they are all
within in forty-five minutes of your home at Lake Don Pedro. |

Lake Don Pedro
is nestled near the heart of California's Gold Country. The area
offers many historical interests made up of old gold rush towns.
Each town has its' own special peace of history to offer.
Coulterville, located approximately ten minutes from the lake, has
an old haunted hotel.
The town of Columbia, established in 1850, has been preserved as
a working 1800 gold rush town. This town is a State Historical Park
that will educate you to the era and delight you with its' small
town quaintness. For activities you can pan for gold just as the
miners did over a decade ago. There is also horse back riding, carriage
rides, old town theater productions, homemade candy shops, museum
visits, and tour an active gold mine. There is also year round events
that take place for your enjoyment and entertainment. Some events
include a Fiddle and Banjo Contest, Antique Shows, and a Victorian
Easter Parade. All of this makes for great family fun and memories,
yet it is only twenty minutes from Lake Don Pedro.
Even better, the lake has old gold mines and we are going to have
our own gold panning. Imagine, going panning for gold in your own
back yard! |

There are metropolitan
areas nearby such as; Sacramento, Fresco, Stockton, and San Francisco.
Also, many areas are growing by leaps and bounds. Modesto is a city
of promise that will grow tremendously in the next two years in
business and production.
Oakdale is also on the rise in business, it serves as home to Hershey's
Chocolate and Diamond Almonds. There is a large agricultural system
here. Yet, Oakdale still retains the livestock business and remains
faithful to its small beginnings.
Another town of large growth is the town of Sonora. Sonora serves
as the county seat for Tuolumne County which Lake Don Pedro is located
in. This town is the equivalent of two towns. They have been careful
to maintain the Historic downtown and just around the corner is
the beginning of the "new town"
These towns not only serve economic resources but also provide nearby
entertainment as they are within an hour of the lake. |
